So... Long Time Blogging

Funny how life can get the best of us...

Life at the Cathouse has been wonderful, yet very busy. Between coping and supporting with the diagnosis of Von Hippel-Lindau (VHL), getting married and going on our Honeymoon/Vacation, it's been hard to keep up with any blogging what so ever.

There are many things, that I'd like to get back to and blogging is just one of those things. For now though, I think I'll just blog about our wonderful honeymoon/vacation. PC and I went to Death Valley for our honeymoon and it was the most wonderful time that we both could have ever had! No sooner than we had crossed in to Death Valley from Las Vegas, we lost all communication to the world. Unfortunately it sent my sister in to a tizzy because she never recieved confirmation that we arrived safely. No cell phones, no internet... nothing. It was great! Just us, the peacefulness within Death Valley, the canyons, the trails... hopefully we can go back and do some more hiking at some point.

I'll close with some pictures, we took sooooo many pictures that the four to five day span of picture taking didn't fit on to a CD. So... I'll just post my favorites.

Enjoy...

Life after "Ike"

Where to even start?

I know I haven't been blogging as much as I had hoped to. Life has taken such a change in direction for us here at the Cat House.

There is many good things to share and there are some sad things to share, but one hates to dwell on the sad. At least I don't like to. I always try to focus on the good. I find that counting my blessings makes life much easier and more pleasant to go through. I have learned to take time to sit outside in the back porch and just take in God's work. That helps me focus on all the blessings that I have around me. I still try to take many pictures every where I go for Saturday's Photo Hunts. I always had fun with those blogs.

Some of the things that I'm about to blog, will probably be blogged separately to give them some individual attention...

I know I've lost some readers since I first started my blog and that is fine, as I've stated, life moves on and tends to take us all in different directions.

Here recently, the Houston and Galveston and parts of Louisiana experienced the wrath of Hurricane Ike. Much to say on that one, but the good thing in all of that is that we, personally, were spared. Thank God! Living in a mobile home, I was petrified and didn't know what to expect. I was fearing the worst, but... God was watching over us. We had no damages to our home or property. Light damages were experienced on my car as it decided to get in the way of flying debris. Our back fence took a beating but none of this is really worth mentioning seeing the devastation it brought upon many Galveston and Houston residents! You've all seen the news coverage I'm sure. We lost power for seven days, but were very blessed to have running water and good neighbors to help us (me) through the times I was at the house alone after the storm. This is another post though.

Something else we have to share is Porta's Cat and Sugar Cat are engaged to be married! Yes... we will be tieing the knot in January of 2009. Yet another post for some individual attention to the subject. LOL

My son just got back from Paris, France! Vacationing in Paris, France... I mean if you are going to have to evacuate, what a better way to do it!!! he was spared the experience of Hurricane Ike but only because they left a week prior to Ike making his way to us. He was not spared his wrath on his home though. This too is another blog.

Well, this is just a small update of the Cat House. I'm hoping that I can catch up with everyone else soon. Hoping to make a comeback in this part of my world.

God Bless all those affected by Hurricane Ike! and God Bless the Bucket Men and all of our Community that is pulling together to help those in need!

The Effects of the recent EDUARD

I know I'm late, extremely late, but I'm still reeling over the effect that EDUARD had on our family!!! When we get notice that there is a hurricane in the Gulf and it is headed to Houston, I am on notice at work! I have to plan on living at the Clinic... We have the "Command Center" to set up and run. Patients still need their medications and we need to be able to communicate to families of the patients, via phone, fax machines and computers... all running on a back up generator. A generator that we have to test once a month.

Well, I was at work, waiting for it to hit... while PC was at home, hunkering down the home front. Well, we did have some excitement at the quaint "adobe". The on-coming storm, drove a "Useless" cat up one of our trees in the back yard!!!

Yep! I was informed in the following text:

PC (8/5 12:26 pm): "Your cat is in back yard tree".
Sugar Cat (8/5 12:28 pm): "WHAT?!?!"
PC (8/5 12:29 pm): "Useless is a dumbass"
Sugar Cat (8/5 1:20 pm): "Baby, can we get to him? Oh baby..."
PC (8/5 1:28 pm): "He is down
Sugar Cat (8/5 4:16 pm): "Oh good! ILY"

A few days later, I learned the word "obsequious" for the first time and learned it's meaning...

usually, in context, it is meant to mean something more along the lines of "dutiful". The mode PC went in to when he was out placing a ladder in the rain, for this "Useless" cat to use, to get down with.

So there you have it... this was the excitement experienced in the Cat House from EDUARD...

As you can see, EDUARD drove a cat up a tree, and yet the winds weren't strong enough to budge the ladder from it's place. It did serve it's purpose though, You can see Useless made it down and made it safely in to the house where he lay and slept soundly...

"DUMBASS" Useless...

Stylin' and Profilin' for a trip to EP...

Am I crazy... well, maybe... but hey, isn't that the what sums up "Mexpsychan"???

El Guapo - (Spanish for The Handsome One)

Adelita Valiente - has come to signify a woman of strength and courage.

~~~~~~~
In the heights of a steep mountainous range
a regiment was encamped
and a bright woman bravely follows them
madly in love with the sergeant.
Popular among the troop was Adelita
the woman that the sergeant idolized
and besides being pretty she was brave
that even the Colonel respected her.
And it was heard, that he, who loved her so much, said:
If Adelita would like to be my girlfriend
If Adelita would be my wife
I'd buy her a silk dress
to take her dance to the quarter.
If Adelita would leave with another man
I'd follow her by land and sea
by sea in a war ship
by land in a military train.
