Rattling experience this AM

I had a very rattling experience this morning as I was leaving the courthouse in houston. Talk about lots of people lined up for some reason or other (just as me).

After taking care of my business, I was walking back to my car which was parked two blocks away from the court house. PC has helped me become more aware of my surroundings, so as I walked back to my car, I took notice of all that was going on around me, people, cars, police, etc... I rounded the corned off of the main street and was now in somewhat of a residential area. Still busy as it had car lots and bail bond business' lined up against that main drag. No one around me...

About two buildings down from rounding the corner, I heard "YO!" That alone startled me, who the hell in their right mind, addresses a woman with no harm intended with "YO!" I quickly looked back to fiind a young male, walking very quickly towards me and mumbling "Do you have the time?" This guy came out of no-where! My immediate response was "No, I'm sorry" and started to walk faster to my car, which was still about a block away. I never took my eyes off of him and was not about to reach in to my purse to obtain my cell phone to check the time for him. I didn't want to lose eye contact as he was still rushing towards me. Within that quick second of asking me the time and me responding, I slipped my hand in to my purse and took out the knife that PC gave me. I held it slighly opened under my paperwork until I managed to get to my car. Once getting in my car, I made sure I had my glock ready and available. I was still rattled. The guy disappeared in to a parking lot and I lost sight of him.

The way he addressed himself is what first alarmed me. The fact that he had a "washcloth" on his head (NOT a Doo Rag as PC posted, but a washcloth) which was partially hiding his face, the way he carried himself, the way he spoke to me was the continuation of my fear.

I know that we are supposed to give people the benefit of the doubt, but seeing as where I was and his demeanor, I went with gut instinct. My fear was that if I took the time to lose eye contact and turn to get my phone, I could have been assaulted.

My question is: Was I wrong in treating him the way I did?

IF A MAN WANTS YOU

This was received in my email today, and I'm posting only because I have several personal friends that are going through trying times after finding themselves in the single world after being married to one man all their lives. This is not intended as advice from me personally, and most definitely not intended to grab anyone elses attention in particular, I'm just sharing.
It is perfectly stated at the bottom: You'll make someone SMILE, another RETHINK her choices, and another woman PREPARE. I smiled on several of these and thought, yep... been there done that.
On a side note: this was written by a man...
As always, comments and personal thoughts are always welcomed

If a man wants you, nothing can keep him away.
If he does not want you, nothing can make him stay.
Stop making excuses for a man and his behavior.
Allow your intuition (or spirit) to save you from heartache.
Stop trying to change yourselves for a relationship that's notmeant to be.
Slower is better.
Never live your life for a man before you find what makes youtruly happy.
If a relationship ends because the man was not treating you asyou deserve
then heck no, you can't "be friends." A friend would notmistreat a friend.
Don't settle. If you feel like he is stringing you along, thenhe probably is.
Don't stay because you think "it will get better." You will bemad at yourself
A year later for staying when things are not better.
The only person you can control in a relationship is you.
Avoid men who have a bunch of children by a bunch of differentwomen.
He did not marry them when he got them pregnant,
Why would he treat you any differently?
Always have your own set of friends separate from his.
Maintain boundaries in how a guy treats you.
If something bothers you, speak up.
Never let a man know everything. He will use it against youlater.
You cannot change a man's behavior. Change comes from within.
Don't EVER make him feel he is more important than youare...even if he has
more education or in a better job. Do not make him into aquasi-god.
He is a man, nothing more nothing less.
Never let a man define who you are.
Never borrow someone else's man.
Oh, Lord! If he cheated with you, he will cheat on you.
A man will only treat you the way you ALLOW him to treat you.
Not all men are dogs.
You should not be the one doing all the bending...compromiseis a two-way street.
You need time to heal between relationships...there is nothingcute about
baggage... deal with your issues before pursuing a new relationship
You should never look for someone to COMPLETE you...arelationship consists
of two WHOLE individuals...look for someone complimentary...not supplementary.
Dating is fun...even if he does not turn out to be Mr... Right
Make him miss you sometimes...when a man always know where you are, and your
always readily available to him- he takes it for granted.
Do not fully commit to a man who gives you everything that you need.
Keep him in your radar but get to know others.

You'll make someone SMILE, another RETHINK her choices, and another woman PREPARE.

Formation of red neck army

I hope NO-ONE takes offense, but this was too good NOT to post!!!

I apologize in advance if it does offend some of you.

But... I'm Sugar Cat... you shouldn't expect anything less.

The Pentagon announced today the formation of a new 500-man elite
fighting unit called the United States Redneck Special Forces. These
Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Missouri, Oklahoma,
Tennessee and Texas boys have been dropped off into Iraq and have been
given only the following facts about the terrorists:
1. The season opened today.
2. There is no limit.
3. They taste just like chicken.
4. They don't like beer, pickups, country music or Jesus.
5. They are DIRECTLY RESPONSIBLE for the death of Dale Earnhardt.
6. Their favorite movie is "BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN."

We expect the problem in Iraq to be over by Friday.

How Widsom Came Into The World

Todays Lesson in Mythology and Folktales.

This West African story from Nigeria uses humor to pass values from generation to generation... Enjoy the lesson...

Long, Long ago, Nyame, the sky god, gave Anansi the spider all the wisdom in the world.

"Make sure you share it equally with everyone," Nyame said to Anansi.

Anansi meant to share the wisdom that Nyame had given him, but he kept putting it off. He put the wisdom in a huge pot and carried it around with him everywhere. Every day, Anansi peeked into the pot of wisdom and learned something new. He acquired all sorts of wonderful ideas and useful skills.

Soon, Anansi became greedy. I will not share the treasure with everyone, he thought to himself. I'm going to keep this knowledge all for myself. In fact, I think I'll hide this pot of wisdom where nobody else can find it.

Anansi decided to hide the pot at the top of a very tall tree. He made some rope out of vines and tied one end of the rope around the pot. He tied the other end of the rope around his waist.

With the pot hanging in front of him, Anansi began to climb the very tall tree. Climbing was hard because the pot kept banging against his belly. He climbed up a little way: Bump! Bump! Bump! He climbed a little farther: Bump! Bump! Bump!

Anansi's son watched the whole thing. He watched as his father inched up the tree with the huge pot thumping against his belly.

"Father," said Anansi's son, "tie the pot on your back. That way, it won't keep thumping against your belly."

Anansi realized that this was a good idea. He untied the giant pot of wisdom and tied it onto his back. Then he continued to make his way up the tree. The going was much easier.

By the time Anansi had reached the top of the tree, however, he was angry. "That young one, with only his common sense, knows more than I do," Anansi shouted, stomping his feet. "And I have a whole pot of wisdom!"

Anansi was so angry that he hurled the pot of wisdom from the top of the tree. It shattered as it hit the ground and wisdom flew in every direction.

After that, people kept finding little bits of wisdom scattered everywhere. Whenever they wanted to, they could take some home to share with their families and friends. And that is why, from that day to this, nobody has all the wisdom in the world. Instead, everybody has little bits of it. We share these little pieces of wisdom whenever we exchange ideas with one another.

I'm moving!!!!

Well, I won’t be blogging much these next few days. Management is relocating me to another apartment. I’ll be glad to get back to some normalcy, if there is such a thing… lol I was informed on Thursday that I was approved to be moved to another apartment, but with all the chaos, I forgot to transfer my roadrunner and cable. So... no internet, no cable and no house phone til next week Wednesday. Wonder how I will survive without the net... oh wait, my laptop is wireless!! HA! and the apartments just offered wireless network by the pool and the pier. Well, ok, that's a bit desperate isn't it??? lol...

I learned a hard lesson, no renters insurance = Me having to move on my own. The apartment complex will not help to physically move me due to liability reasons. Yes, go ahead and say it, “What??? No Renters Insurance??? Dumb Ass”!!! Yes, I am a dumb ass! Needless to say, I went out and got insurance today and made sure that I got Loss of Use insurance as well. It’s not going to help with what’s going on now, but I’ll be prepared next time, hopefully there won’t be a next time. What makes it even more interesting is that I was diagnosed with tendonitis on my right ankle. It’s excruciating pain! Oh My God!!! It is painful!!! The doctor prescribed Vicodin for the pain. What timing. I thought giving birth was painful, this is bad. Ok, so, I’m a pansy when it comes to pain. I’ll need the vicodin to help get through this move. At least I’m headed to the first floor instead of the second or third.

So, I have been packing all the little, tedious stuff this evening, to get those things out of the way and worry mostly about the big stuff tomorrow. PC and his Dad have kindly offered their muscles and precious time to help me move. With PC having his own worries, he made time to help me with mine, and then we’ll be headed back to the hacienda to move all his belongings out of the damaged garage.

It seems like I just moved in here, just yesterday and to think that it’s been nine months already. Wow… And then to move again after this lease is up… Oh God! Maybe I should live out of boxes!!

Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers. God does work wonders…

Apples and Wine

Women are like apples on trees.
The best ones are at the top of the tree.
Most men don't want to reach for the good ones
because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt.
Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the
ground that aren't as good, but easy.
The apples at the top think something is wrong with
them, when in reality, they're amazing.
They just have to wait for the right man to come along,
the one who is brave enough to climb all the way to the top
of the tree.

Now Men....
Men are like a fine wine.
They begin as grapes, and it's up to women
to stomp the sh** out of them until they turn into something
acceptable to have dinner with.

*DISCLAIMER:
A note on men from a (personal) Sugar Cat viewpoint:
This is not such the case with all men!!
I repeat, this is NOT such the case with ALL men!
:)
A big thank you to Ebyjo for bringing to my attention the size of font on the *Disclaimer!! :)
I would hate it sincerely if any "male" missed it and then got all "pissy" with me and removed me from their blog... you gotta love me!!!

Downpour drenches parts of Gulf Coast

I wanted to take this time to thank all who have had us in their thoughts and prayers.

Between, a tree falling on PC's garage due to the first wind/rain storm and then Mondays rains hitting my apartment and my neices house and still all those other families that were hit even harder and lost possibly so much more in their lives than I, it has not been difficult to find a smile on my face thanks to all the dear friends and "blogmates" here throughout these links.

I cringed as the rain began to pour again today, but, I figured if my cell phone wasn't ringing, all was well at home. I came home during my lunch hour to see my oldest son off to Austin, and things were fine at the time (1pm-Houston time). I sat in an office of a High School Ninth Grade Center, working on various computers in the library and one lab, all while watching the rain come through a lighting fixture of the library itself. A constant reminder of what might be going on at home. Then about 5:15 my cell phone rang, it was my daughter. "Mom, what was the condition of the bedroom when you came home for lunch?" My gut feeling took over... more rain damage to my bedroom. "There are peices of the ceiling laying on the floor of the bedroom, all over the bedroom. And it's leaking again throughout the whole bedroom." I was on my way home again, fearing the unknown. I became so upset and frustrated with the actions (or idiotic responses) of my apartment management! It took all that I could not to lose complete senses when I walked in to the bedroom. Yesterday, management got the carpet cleaners out here before they found or fixed the hole in the roof. It is now 11:39 pm and I'm still waiting on maintenance to come and alleviate the pressure in the ceiling as promised by management.

My neice got all the water out of her house, lost all the carpet, but with her health being what it is, Thanks to God, replacing the carpet is a blessing!

So... that's a quick update. Seeing that I don't have a digital camera, pictures to be posted in days to come... once I regain my sanity. More to come I'm sure...

love to you all for your thoughts and prayers.

Abducted soldiers 'killed in a barbaric way'

Full story here

I had started out to pay my respects to the two soldiers that were brutally killed, but, in roaming through the pages of many wonderful sites listed here within my page, I noticed that there were many tributes already posted.

So instead of putting to words what others have done so well, I list their sites here so that you can read and pay your respect in your own way as you read through the many deep hearted posts.

(Listed in no particular order)

Katey's Kafe

The only words I have for all the families:

Dear Lord Jesus and Mary, Mother of God,

Hold all these brave souls in the palm of your hand, comfort them and their families.

Send angels of protection, love, and comfort to all the service men and women still at war, bring them home safely and comfort their families.

We ask all our prayers in Jesus' name.
Amen

May all soldiers who fell in Iraq be blessed and praised for giving the ultimate sacrifice. May our Lord be holding all in his arms, and bring peace and comfort to their families.

Latest Weather Developments - Houston, TX

June 19, 2006

Full story linked to Title.

Texas Governor Rick Perry sends help to flood ridden HoustonGov. Perry has deployed 25 Texas Army National Guard trucks, 3-helicopters with flight crews, swift water rescue teams from Texas Task Force One, and one incident management team from the Texas Forest Service to Houston. The action comes in response to flooding in our area.County Judge Robert Eckels will hold a news briefing at noon. You can watch at live on Channel 11 and KHOU.com

My problems seem so minimal at this point when I think back to seeing so many cars under water as seen in the picture above. I recieved a call from my daughter at 11:05 am: "Oh My God! Oh My God! Mom!!! Oh My God!!!" It took all I could to just attempt all odds to reach through the phone and get her to stop and take a breath... "It's raining in your bedroom!!!" I immediately got off the phone, called the management of the apartments and requested maintenance to check out the damages and made my way home.

I live on the 3rd floor of our apartment building, and as I finally walked in to the bedroom I notice the entire cieling of the bedroom, leaking. My daughter was right... it was raining throughout the bedroom. Collecting my thoughts, we moved the bed (which was wet by this point) and the dresser drawers (which were drenched, soaked and warped at one spot from the rain) to one side of the bedroom until we could assess the damages and maintenance could figure out what they needed to do. Needless to say, maintenance could not find a problem on the roof, they moved my complete bed to the living room (so I have an efficiency apartment right now) with two grown children visiting. I am very blessed in all of this. I have caring people offering me and the kids a place to stay. Family in San Diego calling to check on us and offering assistance if needed.

Meanwhile on the South Side of Houston, my neice and her husband were up at 4 am tackling the water that was making it's way in to their house, the picture below is of her in her backyard. She must have been dillusional, she is smiling even after getting water out of their house. She has her health, after fighting Von Hippel Lindau Disease, she has so much to smile about... As she posted on her site, might as well just take it all with a smile, she still has her family and her health.

I am blessed!

May God be with all the families that have been affected by the floods!

TEAMWORK!!

You Can't Do It Alone!

I am writing in response to your request concerning Block #11 on the insurance form which asks for "the cause of injuries," wherein I put, "trying to do the job alone." You said you needed more information, so I trust the following will be sufficient.

I am a bricklayer by trade, and on the date of injuries I was working alone, laying brick around the top of a four-story building when I realized that I had about 500 pounds of brick left over. Rather than carry the bricks down by hand, I decided to put them into a barrel and lower them by a pulley which was fastened to the top of the building. I secured the end of the rope at ground level, and went up to the top of the building, and loaded the bricks into the barrel, and flung the barrel out with the bricks in it. I then went down and untied the rope, holding it securely to insure the slow decent of the barrel.

As you will note on Block#6 of the insurance form, I weigh 145 pounds. Due to my shock at being jerked off the ground so swiftly, I lost my presence of mind and forgot to let go of the rope. Between the second and third floors, I met the barrel coming down. This accounts for the bruises and lacerations on my upper body. Regaining my presence of mind, again I held tightly to the rope and proceeded rapidly up the side of the building, not stopping until my right hand was jammed in the pulley. This accounts for my broken thumb.

Despite the pain, I retained my presence of mind and held tightly to the rope. At approximately the same time, however, the barrel of bricks hit the ground and the bottom fell out of the barrel. Devoid of the weight of the bricks, the barrel now weighted about fifty pounds. I again refer you to Block #6 and my weight.

As you would guess, I began a rapid descent. In the vicinity of the second floor, I met the barrel coming up. This explains the injuries to my legs and lower body. Slowed only slightly, I continued my descent, landing on the pile of bricks. Fortunately, my back was only sprained, and the internal injuries were only minimal. I am sorry to report, however, that at this point I again lost my presence of mind and let go of the rope. As you can imagine, the empty barrel crashed down on me.

I trust this answers your concern. Please know that I am finished--

WAYS TO GET ALONG BETTER WITH EVERYONE

I've said this before and I'll say it again, in fact, I'll be the first to admit, I'm not perfect. I'm not a perfect daughter, sister, mother, friend, lover, nor am I a perfect child of God. But while admitting this, I am also ready to say that I try to live my life, right, and if I'm wrong, I will be the first to admit that too.

In saying this, 2006 was going to be my year to try and live my life right by others and more so in living it right for myself. I allowed myself to live a life for the last six years with someone that fell in several of the following descriptions:
Psychological egoism (also known as psychological hedonism), Rational egoism, Ethical egoism. I can honestly say that such characteristics in one person can be very detrimental to those around them. I'm learning to notice such characteristics and to live my life as such that I would not be so self absorbed and bring harm to those around me because of my self-interest.

These 11 ways of getting along better with everyone is something to take to heart. There are many things within me that I still need to work on, and I can only hope that I already live by some of these rules and that I can engrave a few others in my mind and in my heart.

1. Before you say anything, ask yourself three things: (1) Is it true? (2) Is it kind? (3) Is it necessary?

2. Make promises sparingly and keep them faithfully.

3. Never miss the opportunity to compliment or to say something encouraging to someone.

4. Refuse to talk negatively about others. Don't gossip and don't listen to gossip.

5. Have a forgiving view of people. Believe that most people are doing the best they can.

6. Keep an open mind. Discuss, but don't argue. (It is possible to disagree without being disagreeable.)

7. Forget about counting to 10. Count to 1,000.

8. Let your virtues speak for themselves.

9. If someone criticizes you, see if there is any truth to what he/she is saying. If so, make changes. If there is no truth to the criticism, ignore it and live so that no one will believe the negative.

10. Cultivate your sense of humor. Laughter is the shortest distance between two people.

11. "Do not seek so much to be consoled, as to console; do not seek so much to be understood, as to understand; do not seek so much to be loved, as to love."

Land Of Confusion

Mindset or frame of mind... It is what it is...

I must've dreamed a thousand dreams
Been haunted by a million screams
I can hear the marching feet
They're moving into the street.

Now did you read the news today
They say the danger's gone away
But I can see the fire's still alight
Burning into the night.

Too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go round
Can't you see
This is a land of confusion.

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in.

Superman where are you now
Everything's gone wrong somehow
The men of steel, men of power
Are losing control by the hour.

This is the time
This is the place
So we look for the future
But there's not much love to go round
Tell me why, this is a land of confusion.

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth living in.

I remember long ago -
When the sun was shining
The stars were bright
All through the night
And the sound of your laughter
As I held you tightSo long ago -

I won't be coming home tonight
My generation will put it right
We're not just making promises
That we know, we'll never keep.

Too many men
Too many people
Making too many problems
And not much love to go round
Can't you seeThis is a land of confusion.

This is the world we live in
And these are the hands we're given
Use them and let's start trying
To make it a place worth fighting for.
This is the world we live in

And these are the names we're given
Stand up and let's start showing
Just where our lives are going to.

Long Term Disagreement

With recent events, I figured PC would get a good feeling out of this post.

When neighbors, as is often the case, don't get along too well. This says it all...

Legally, the guy standing there can't do a damn thing about it.

What Makes A Dad

Happy Fathers Day to all the men out there that have proven themselves to be real fathers. And for those of you that have to play Mother and Father! My hats off to you!

God took the strength of a mountain, The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun, The calm of a quiet sea,
The generous soul of nature, The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages, The power of the eagle's flight,
The joy of a morning in spring, The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity, The depth of a family need,
Then God combined these qualities, When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete, And so, He called it ... Dad

~Author Unknown~

It Takes More Than Blood

It takes more than blood to be a dad.

Oh this is surely a proven fact.

I've seen men give his heart to a child ...

Never once think of taking it back.

A Dad is the one who is always there;

He protects a child from all harm.

He gives a child the assurance that he

will be their anchor in any storm.

A real Dad is a man that teaches his child

all the things in life he needs to know.

He's the tower of strength a child leans on.

The source of love that helps them grow.

There are men that children call Daddy.

Oh, he is their shelter when it rains.

He showers them with unconditional love.

As if it were his blood in their veins.

Whenever you meet a Dad that redefines the word,

honor him with all the respect that is due.

Understand that he proudly wears this banner ...

Because his heart is big enough for you.I

t's sad but true that not all men understand

it takes more than blood to be a dad.

Someday if they wake up to their empty life ...

They shall miss what they could have had.

To those men who will never be a dad ...

No matter what they say or do.

It takes more than blood to possess that title ...

And it's only found in a man like you.

"Well, husband ..1 was a Sales Representative; he kept telling me how great it was going to be."

"Husband .2 was in Software Services; he was never Really sure how it was supposed to function, but he said he'd look into it and get back to me.

" Husband .3 was from Field Services; he said Everything checked out diagnostically but he just couldn't get the system up."

"Husband .4 was in Telemarketing; even though he knew he had the order, he didn't know when he would be able to deliver."

"Husband .5 was an Engineer, he understood the basic process but wanted three years to Research, implement, and design a new state-of-the-art method."

"Husband .6 was from Administration; he thought he Knew how, but he wasn't sure whether it was his job or not."

"Husband 7 was in Marketing; although he had a product, he was never sure how to position it."

An Old Farmer's Advice:

Good advice! Even for those of us who don't live on a farm!!!

* Your fences need to be horse-high, pig-tight and bull-strong.
* Keep skunks and bankers and lawyers at a distance.
* Life is simpler when you plow around the stump.
* A bumble bee is considerably faster than a John Deere tractor.
* Words that soak into your ears are whispered...not yelled.
* Meanness don't jes' happen overnight.
* Forgive your enemies. It messes up their heads.
* Do not corner something that you know is meaner than you.

* It don't take a very big person to carry a grudge.
* You cannot unsay a cruel word.
* Every path has a few puddles.
* When you wallow with pigs, expect to get dirty.
* The best sermons are lived, not preached.
* Most of the stuff people worry about ain't never gonna happen anyway.
* Don't judge folks by their relatives.
* Remember that silence is sometimes the best answer.
* Live a good, honorable life. Then when you get older and think back, you'll enjoy it a second time.
* Don't interfere with somethin' that ain't botherin' you none.
* Timing has a lot to do with the outcome of a rain dance.
* If you find yourself in a hole, the first thing to do is stop diggin'. * Sometimes you get, and sometimes you get got.
* The biggest troublemaker you'll probably ever have to deal with, watches you from the mirror every mornin'.
* Always drink upstream from the herd.
* Good judgment comes from experience, and a lotta that comes from bad judgment. * Lettin' the cat outta the bag is a whole lot easier than puttin' it back in.
* If you get to thinkin' you're a person of some influence, try orderin' somebody else's dog around.
* Live simply.
Love generously.
Care deeply.
Speak kindly.
Leave the rest to God.

Work was hectic today, I barely managed to put the previous post together, but with it being Flag Day, the best tribute that I can pay at this moment in honor of Flag Day is by leaving my Ex Father-in-laws' memory here in these entries, To Joe Madrid, who served our country well. "Lighten him of his nuts. It will make a world of difference."

You are probably asking yourself and wondering, "What The Hell?" "Porta's Cat finally went too far!!!" "Oh Poor Guy!"

The above "quoted" comments were sent to me this morning, and it just seemed so fitting that I share the conversation.

No people, I'm not Neutering Porta's Cat after yesterdays blog!!

Mr. Porta's Cat - a.k.a - Azul - El Loco, is safe from being neutered!

But it leaves me to wonder if the same operation would help settle a man down.... hmmmm.... the same could be said about the woman though. The surgery would be the answer to all the adultery that goes on in relationships.

Ok, so...here's the scoop; If you have kept up with Porta Cat's blog, he had a stray cat that was coming around the office and the cat adopted Mr. Porta's Cat. We learned that he was "Useless" the cat. Well, Useless took PC in and started taking care of him through out the day, stopping in and making sure he was working out, amusing him with his little antics, giving PC a reason to go to the office day in and day out. You know, just like a typical pet... They keep us in line.

Well, Useless was pretty independent until he met up with Porta's Cat. PC finally became concerned about a week ago, that Useless would not make it out in the streets, between finding a bb from a BB pistol or rifle and Useless becoming very friendly. Well, I took Useless in this last Sunday was his transition from being a stray or a feral cat (Definition of stray and feral coming soon) to a domesticated cat.

I have not been able to get to sleep until past midnight the last two nights. Monday night, upon trying to get ready for bed, I noticed Useless decided to play hide and seek with me. about 10:30. It took me one hour before I finally found him, snuggled, way back under my bed, behind the Christmas Tree. I had to chase him out with the bat (no people, I didn't swing the bat at him, I just couldn't reach him, so hence something long to nudge him out). If you read the comments reported on PC's blog, Useless also had a bit of a tissy fit in the bathroom, frantically running and jumping about in the bathroom and throwing candle holders with his frantic state. I was finally able to calm him down and get him settled in for the night.

Last night, well, last night was a night to remember! He was antsy... I think he misses his #1 caretaker, anyway... I had to shut him in the bathroom with the litter box, I heard him, bored in there all night. This am, (at 4:45 am) I was awakened by a loud rustling of the shower curtain. I awoke to Useless hanging, by the tip of his claws, to the top of the shower curtain!! Looking at me like "OH SHIT!!!! CAUGHT IN THE ACT!!!" Although it was a sight for sore eyes, mine were not to focus at that hour! I can laugh now, but not at that hour! As I approached to rescue him, he jumped down and ran out of the bathroom... nestled himself on the window sill, allowed me to pet him and send me off to work as he stared at me from the window, probably thinking "MMHHMMM, you go on to work, I'll find Merlo and have a nice (slurp) talk with him!!!" (Merlo being my beta fish) .

So, hence the comments sent to me, via email, by Porta's Cat and the way I look today.....

This is me, after my rough night with Useless!!!
The boy is getting CUT!!!

More later.... Some enlightening information on the difference between stray cats and feral cats.
Please disregard any misspelling or grammar errors; I haven't had my full cup of coffee this am!!!

George Carlins New Rules for 2006

New Rule: Ladies, leave your eyebrows alone. Here's how much men care about your eyebrows: do you have two of them? Okay, we're done.

New Rule: Stop f***ing with old people. Target is introducing a redesigned pill bottle that's square, with a bigger label. And the top is now the bottom. And by the time grandpa figures out how to open it, his ass will be in the morgue. Congratulations, Target, you just solved the Social Security crisis

New Rule: The more complicated the Starbucks order, the bigger the ass hole. If you walk into a Starbucks and order a "decaf grande half-soy, half-low fat, iced vanilla, double-shot, gingerbread cappuccino, extra dry, light ice, with one Sweet-n'-Low and one NutraSweet," ooh, you're a huge ass hole.

New Rule: I'm not the cashier! By the time I look up from sliding my card, entering my PIN number, pressing "Enter," verifying the amount, deciding, no, I don't want cash back, and pressing "Enter" again, the kid who is supposed to be ringing me up is standing there eating my TWIX.

New Rule: If you're going to insist on making movies based on crappy, old television shows, then you have to give everyone in the Cineplex a remote so we can see what's playing on the other screens. Let's remember the reason something was a television show in the first place is that the idea wasn't good enough to be a movie.

New Rule: No more gift registries. You know, it used to be just for weddings. Now it's for babies and new homes and graduations from rehab. Picking out the stuff you want and having other people buy it for you isn't gift giving, it's the white people version of looting.

Ragged Old Flag

I walked through a county courthouse square,
On a park bench an old man was sitting there.
I said, "Your old courthouse is kinda run down."
He siad, "Naw, it'll do for our little town."
I said, "Your old flagpole has leaned a little bit,
And that's a Ragged Old Flag you got hanging on it."

He said, "Have a seat," and I sat down.
"Is this the first time you've been to our little town?"
I said, "I think it is." He said, "I don't like to brag,
But we're kinda proud of that Ragged Old Flag.

"You see, we got a little hole in that flag there when
Washington took it across the Delaware.
And it got powder-burned the night Francis Scott Key
Sat watching it writing Say Can You See.
And it got a bad rip in New Orleans
With Packingham and Jackson tuggin' at its seams.

"And it almost fell at the Alamo
Beside the Texas flag, but she waved on, though.
She got cut with a sword at Chancellorsville
And she got cut again at Shiloh Hill.
There was Robert E. Lee, Beauregard and Bragg,
And the south wind blew hard on that Ragged Old Flag.

"On Flanders Field in World War I
She got a big hole from a Bertha gun.
She turned blood red in World War II.
She hung limp and low by the time it ws through.
She was in Korea and Vietnam.
She was sent where she was by her Uncle Sam.

"She waved from our ships upon the briny foam,
And now they've about quit waving her back here at home.
In her own good land here she's been abused --
She's been burned, dishonored, denied and refused.

"And the government for which she stands
Is scandalized throughout the land.
and she's getting threadbare and wearing thin,
But she's in good shape for the shape she's in.
"Cause she's been through the fire before
And I believe she can take a whole lot more.

"So we raise her up every morning,
Take her down every night.
We don't let her touch the ground
And we fold her up right.
On second thought, I do like to brag,
"Cause I'm mighty proud of the Ragged Old Flag."

This came across my inbox today and I'm sure that there are a few of you that will enjoy this.
In no way, is any disrespect meant, just ligtening my day.

Where Are You From?

Some humor to get our day going... Thanks Suzanne...

A man walked into the produce section of his local supermarket and asked to buy a half head of lettuce. The boy working in that department told him that they only sold whole heads of lettuce. The man was insistent that the boy ask his manager about the matter.

Walking into the back room, the boy said to the manager, "Some idiot wants to buy a half head of lettuce." As he finished his sentence, he turned to find the man standing right behind him, so he added, "And this gentleman kindly offered to buy the other half."

The manager approved the deal and the man went on his way. Later the manager said to the boy, "I was impressed with the way you got yourself out of that situation earlier. We like people who think on their feet here. Where are you from, son?" "Texas, sir," they boy replied. "Well, why did you leave tExas?" the manager asked.

The boy said "Sir, there's nothing but whores and football players down there."
"Really?" said the manager. "My wife is from Texas."

"No kidding?" replied the boy. "Who'd she play for?"

Building the smallest democracy at the heart of society

A Family is...
a deeply rooted tree with branches of different strengths
all receiving nourishment from an infinite source.

A Family is...
where character is formed, values are learned,
ethics are created, and society is preserved.

A Family is...
where all members contribute and share, co-operate and work,
and accept their responsibilities toward the good of the group.

A Family is...
where holidays are celebrated with feasting, birthdays are acknowldeged,
and thoughts of days gone by are kept alive with fond remembrances.

A Family is...
where each can find solace and comfort in grief, pleasure and laughter in joy,
and kindness and encouragement in daily living.

A Family is...
a haven of rest, a sanctuary of peace,
and most of all, a harbor of love.
