Franklin The Turtle - May He Rest In Peace...
So, yesterday the entire Cat Family took a stroll down the neighborhood on bicycles. Upon coming back home, Jr. PC found a turtle as we all entered the gate to Zimbabwee. He couldn't tell if the turtle was dead or alive, so I suggested to get a small amount of water in a bowl to see if the turtle would come out of his shell. Sugar Berry (PC's daughter) was so excited and was anxious to hold the turtle. Ofcourse, with big brother finding the turtle, he was hesitant in sharing his find so quick, atleast until he confirmed if the turtle was DOF (Dead On Finding). Anyway, the turtle was withdrawn in to his shell quite far, I figured he was just scared, no such luck. As I was coming out of the house, PC, Jr. PC and Sugar Berry were all gathered around confirming his state. I suggested that Jr. PC, perform a proper burial, and Sugar Berry was more than ready to do this all proper. Next thing I see is Jr. PC coming out of the garage with a shovel, BIG shovel.

All I could do was smile. Jr. PC proceeded to bury the turtle and inform me that he buried him, face up, this was so that the turtle would be able to crawl out, "in case" he woke up, (HEH) and also that Sugar Berry had named him "Franklin".
Jr. PC, upon my suggestion, said a quick prayer over Franklin, "May He Rest In Peace. Amen"
As you will see in the following pictures, Sugar Berry did right by the turtle, although Jr. PC thought it was "dumb" of us how we were going all out, as Sugar Berry insisted on a marker and flowers!
The Little Turtle
Vachel Lindsay
There lived a little turtle,
He lived in a box.
He swam in a puddle.
He climbed on the rocks.
He snapped at a mosquito.
He snapped at a flea.
He snapped a minnow.
And he snapped at me.
He caught the mosquito.
He caught the flea.
He caught the minnow.
But he didn't catch me.
