WINDOWS XP -

You might ask, why I haven't blogged about my week-end and my experience with my CHL class (aside from the fact that all the pictures and video clips are on my laptop at work), well..... read on if interested...

No matter how many notes I took, reread the chapter in this particular section... the following questions and labs still bit me in the A$$!!!! I missed them in my test... What sucks in it all, is that I do this day to day, go figure...

Choices:
A - User accounts grant access to resources or allow restrictions to be placed on them
B - Windows XP has some built-in user accounts, such as Administrator
C - User accounts are not required but add some security measures
D - User accounts are required for authentication
E - User accounts are only required for a domain environment

Which of the following characteristics are true regarding the domain environment? Choose all that apply.

Choices:
A - Network overhead is less in a domain environment than in a workgroup
B - Network overhead is greater in a domain environment than in a workgroup
C - Creating a domain requires at least 10 user accounts
D - Domains use Active Directory for user account storage
E - Domain Users and Domain Administrators are two groups that get placed on a domain's computers when a domain is created

Create a New Group

From the Start menu, use a shortcut menu to manage My Computer. Then, double-click to open Local Users and Groups and single-click to open the Groups folder. Now, in the blank space below the Groups list, use a shortcut menu to create a new group named Accountants. Next, choose to add a new member and, from the Advanced button, find all users from WXPBOX. At this point, hold down the Ctrl key and click New Account to select both Aaron and New Account. Finally, create the new group and close the dialog box to see that Accountants has been added.

Change Logon Behavior

From the Start menu, open the Control Panel and choose User Accounts. Then, change the way users log on or off by choosing to not use the Welcome screen. Now, close the User Accounts and Control Panel windows and use the Start button to log off. Finally, choose the log off option and then click OK to see if the Welcome screen appears.

Test Policy Changes

From within the Start Menu and Taskbar folder, double-click to enable the Remove Run menu from Start Menu setting. Then, close the Console1 window without saving. Now, from the Start menu, log off and then log on again as aarons using WXP as the password. Finally, click the Start button again to see if the Run command is missing from the menu.
