City of El Paso announces emergency measures, State Help

Well, the rain seems to want to hit just about every town where my family seems to live.

I was born and raised in El Paso, Texas and as you can see from the news reported by KVIA Channel 7 from El Paso. My home town has been hit hard. This much rain is something they are not use to.

EL PASO, TX- Tuesday's rain has caused some major damage all across the Borderland. Rushing water in some areas has been strong enough to send buildings crumbling to the ground.

Although, I do remember growing up and remembering water coming in to the house, as much as three feet and more of water at times. I remember one specific night we were all still young, elementary age, and the National Guard making their way to our street to pass out sandbags to residents to place in front of their doors to stop the water from entering the house. My father, and brothers being in the National Guard, it felt like family was taking care of us. I'll never forget that night. Pitch dark and water all over the house, everywhere. We kids were taken to higher ground, while my parents stayed behind and tried to salvage what they can.

This was a common thing back then, now they have improved the drainage system in my old neighbordhood. No matter, I still called and asked my brother and sister how mom's house was? If there was any flooding at the house and if they needed anything. Luckily my brother went immediately to my mom's house and started sandbagging around the doors. Mom no longer lives at the house where I grew up, she's 84 now and lives with my sister due to her health. Thank God for Big Sisters!

Prayers for fellow TEXANS are needed!!!
