Downpour drenches parts of Gulf Coast
I wanted to take this time to thank all who have had us in their thoughts and prayers.
Between, a tree falling on PC's garage due to the first wind/rain storm and then Mondays rains hitting my apartment and my neices house and still all those other families that were hit even harder and lost possibly so much more in their lives than I, it has not been difficult to find a smile on my face thanks to all the dear friends and "blogmates" here throughout these links.
I cringed as the rain began to pour again today, but, I figured if my cell phone wasn't ringing, all was well at home. I came home during my lunch hour to see my oldest son off to Austin, and things were fine at the time (1pm-Houston time). I sat in an office of a High School Ninth Grade Center, working on various computers in the library and one lab, all while watching the rain come through a lighting fixture of the library itself. A constant reminder of what might be going on at home. Then about 5:15 my cell phone rang, it was my daughter. "Mom, what was the condition of the bedroom when you came home for lunch?" My gut feeling took over... more rain damage to my bedroom. "There are peices of the ceiling laying on the floor of the bedroom, all over the bedroom. And it's leaking again throughout the whole bedroom." I was on my way home again, fearing the unknown. I became so upset and frustrated with the actions (or idiotic responses) of my apartment management! It took all that I could not to lose complete senses when I walked in to the bedroom. Yesterday, management got the carpet cleaners out here before they found or fixed the hole in the roof. It is now 11:39 pm and I'm still waiting on maintenance to come and alleviate the pressure in the ceiling as promised by management.
My neice got all the water out of her house, lost all the carpet, but with her health being what it is, Thanks to God, replacing the carpet is a blessing!
So... that's a quick update. Seeing that I don't have a digital camera, pictures to be posted in days to come... once I regain my sanity. More to come I'm sure...
love to you all for your thoughts and prayers.
