Memorial Day Tribute

"Memorial Day is more than the start of summer. It is a chance to pause and remember the sacrifices -- remember the gallantry and bravery -- remember the fallen."

There are not enough words on my behalf that can give my deepest respect to all the men and women who have served our country and lost their lives doing so...
To those who served and gave their lives to protect us and our freedom, my deepest respect, love and undending devotion.

With that being said, I leave you all with the following tribute that can be found at Beliefnet.com

"Over the past century, more than 35 million men and women answered the call to arms in World War I, World War II, Korea, Vietnam, the Persian Gulf, Iraq, and countless unnamed military engagements. More than half a million of them never came home. Some died in battle, others in captivity; all died too soon."

The rest is here:

We cherish too, the Poppy red
That grows on fields where valor led,
It seems to signal to the skies
That blood of heroes never dies.

There is a point to ponder in the following statement made by Melanie Morgan in the following posting.

Honor our fallen heroes
Melanie Morgan

"I wonder how many people will take the time to actually pay tribute to the true intention of the holiday: to honor those who have given their lives for the cause of American freedom."

"The barbecues, swim parties and discount sales at the shopping malls continue unabated, but the holiday's true significance seems to have faded for some in this nation. It's sad to see some people finding it too inconvenient or too politically sensitive to paying homage to our nation's greatest heroes."

"Unlike those Americans who dedicate just one weekend to paying tribute to our fallen soldiers, the men and women serving in Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom do not have the opportunity to select just one day or one weekend to serve. They face the threat of attack every second of every day that they are serving overseas
