Haircuts

Well, I felt compelled to jump on this bandwagon that started back at Xavier Thoughts, and followed with The AnarchAngel, and finally The Cathouse.

I have to agree with a lot of what these guys have to point out when it comes to men getting a decent haircut these days. Hopefully Barbershops will not die away as the good ole' drive in theaters.

The salons and hair boutiques are everywhere, but like Alex commented on Xavier's post "Not many understand the difference between a barber and a 'stylist'. I was always told a licensed barber could lay a razor against the skin and a 'stylist' could merely cut hair". Very true...

And Porta's Cat has a lot of good points that I definitely agree with... especially the point where men shouldn't have either a ponytail or mullet. I would hate to mistake a man for a woman, and I've seen a few that I've had to second guess... so I can only imagine how a man is going to feel when he mistakes a man for a woman!

These men have so eloquently pointed out the importance of a good barber and the technique that it takes to give a good haircut...

Xavier - "I like a 0-0.5 Navy Reg with my neck shaved"

The Anarchangel - 1. Modified high and tight - #1 back and sides with a slight blend into a #2 top. Completely off the ears and shaved high up the neck

2. Short and Neat - #1 just off the ears and back of the neck, completely off the ears, blend from a 2 to a 4 on top. Use the scissors to even it out and shape it properly. Shaved high up the neck.

3. Generic officers’ regulation cut - #2 just over the ears and neck, blended smoothly into a top that will just lay flat and be comb-able without any fixative. Shaved low up the neck, no sideburns.

Porta's Cat - has two basic cuts as he has posted pictures of...

All said and done... Where does that leave us women? We women don't want to be mistaken for a man either you know. We might want our our man to "pinch our ass" or better yet get that nice "ass pat" and such... wouldn't want him to come home and mistake us for a man.

Why is it that most men have this thing with women and long hair? Can someone explain that one to me? I've heard different views on this, it's just sexy... gives a man something to well... get physical with, while in the heat of passion... helps a man know if you are man or woman (but as pointed out by Porta's Cat and I, there are a few excpetions to that).

The following is what I have gone through in hairstyles, remembering that I didn't post the one where I had a perm done and looked like Shirley Temple when she was little, or the perm that I had to go back the very next day and pay to get it chemically straightened out! I've had it even shorter than the second picture, I liked that length, but I'm on the fence on getting it cut again. I have only found one place that can take care of me really good, and I've been through many hair stylists... of course the one that I like the most, is costly, especially if I have long hair. Hence the teeter - tottering on the fence post on whether to cut it or not.

We too, worry about the grays and then there's the whole thing about using the right type of shampoo to care for the hair coloring, the conditioner, the hairspray, gel and mousse to hold that "look" and "style" the frizzineess, the fullness... We have so much to figure out; Plain shampoo, plain conditioner, condition 3-in-1 Mousse Maximum Hold, Curl Defining for Curly or Wavy Hair, the list goes on and on and on....

And we can't forget that we women have to look good for our men or better yet to attract a man and keep him. Hair isn't everything, but a good woman takes care of her looks, keeps herself feeling good and keeps her man attracted to her at the same time.

Oh God!!! It's time for a haircut and styling!!!
