COSMOPOLITAN - A Woman's Best Friend
So... latter part of last week and this week-end, I spent my days in Zimbabwee at the little "hacienda". Nesting OFCOURSE!!! What else would I be doing? Putting in to effect what "little" strategies I have to domesticate Mr. Porta's Cat.
Upon enjoying my little "nesting ritual, I fell upon a COSMOPOLITAN Magazine, and low and behold if I wasn't enlightened with a few things on how to treat my man, things I should and shouldn't do, things I can do to get my man to do things my way, etc., etc., etc... PC was so thrilled and impressed with all the articles we discussed. I know he's just excited. lol... (Sarcasm in place ofcourse).
The guys and men posted in their magazine, look to be probably the age of my sons!!! Can they do something for us "worldly" women? And no, PC, I don't mean, Ladies Home Journal, Redbook, Family Circle, or Better Homes and Garden or even Southern Living! I'm all for dating the younger men, I mean, PC is younger, I won't say by how much though! lol... Besides, he's catching up, he recently had a bday ;)
Anyway, so getting back to my enlightenment...

1. Guy Talk vs. Girl Talk
(This is a good article as I was really able to learn something here, just don't tell PC!!!)
The Secret to Really Understanding Each Other
a. Talk Hurdle In The Car -
*Guy Style - He's into peace and quiet and the open road; it's the perfect chance to chillout - in silence - with you.
*Girl Style - You see this as prime, uninterrupted couple time to discuss...stuff.
*How to mesh - Try playing by his rules now and then.
"Your guy relishes times like these: just being with you, in the moment, without the chatter," says Diana Ivy, PhD, coauthor of Genderspeak and professor of communication at Texas A&M University in Corpus Christi, Texas. "By learning to enjoy that time with him - and relaxing his way occasionally - you build a new kind of closeness.
"But before that can happen, you need to get comfortable with that stillness.
b. Talk Hurdle After a Fight
c. Talk Hurdle First Thing in the A.M.
d. Talk Hurdle On a Date
e. Talk Hurdle When There's a Problem
f. Talk Hurdle At a Party
2. How to Savor Silence -
It doesn't always come easy to us girls, so here are some tips on connecting - quietly - with your man.
a. Don't state (and then restate) the obvious. - Watchin the sun set with your guy doesn't require you to provide a running commentary. Sure, it's beautiful, but sayint o him "Isn't it so beautiful, honey?" really exhausts the point.
b. Stay in the moment - Breath deeply a few times and take a mental snapshot of the setting that surrounds you, instead of trying to express it. If you're in a constant state of chatter, the reality is that you're not really taking it in.
c. Give the guy a chance to speak up - When you want to know what he's thinking, give him some room to say what's on his mind. He's more likely to talk if you're not sharing every thought, because that just annoys him.
3. Learn to Love His Annoying Behavior
(I'd list the annoying traits with the Positive Flip Side to it and How You would benefit, but due to my firewall, I can't access that section, but definitely a reader!!)
This is a good url for those of you who really want to make your man "purr"...
