Tagged - Ten of life's simple pleasures

Patrick of Born Again Redneck has tagged me to list ten of life’s simple pleasures. I thought it would be so easy to just pick out the most treasured “little” moments in life that I revel in and take for granted at times; it’s not as easy as I had thought. I’m finding I need to really think of what my real simple pleasures are, so here it goes. And they are listed in no specific order…

1. Passion – this can come in many different forms to many of us; passion could be the slightest touch to the strongest sexual desire, need and want of someone you love. It could also come to be in the form of love: any object of warm affection or devotion; a love for the theater, gardening, or music, it can also be in the form of rage: something that is desired intensely.

2. Coffee – and I don’t mean just a cup of coffee… A good cup of French Vanilla Coffee or a Caramel Macchiato, whatever your preference lies, as you start your day off or even a cup to get you through the rest of what may have been a good day or bad day.

3. A nice walk down the pier watching the sunrise by the lake or even a nice walk down the beach front, either alone or with a special someone. Watching the sunrise or the sunset as it comes above or falls behind the horizon.

4. Nature – all of it, in its splendor, from a single blade of grass to a field of nothing but greenery, with some wild flowers seen here and there. The simple beauty of a forest, with a gentle breeze blowing through each branch. The many wonderful colors in a garden so magnificently laid out and tended to with so much love, patience and passion, either by God or someone with a passion for gardening.

5. A single kiss, given to one very innocently, lovingly or passionately.

6. The smile of one single stranger that crosses your path, and knowing that you and that person made a difference in each other’s day.

7. The simplicity of a dog barking in the background or a bird chirping, even the simplicity of “bells” ringing as you sit sipping that cup of coffee or watching that sunrise or sunset.

8. A good Bloody Mary – you just can’t beat a good Bloody Mary (on a Sunday) after that cup of coffee that started your day…

6 ounces tomato juice or tomato and vegetable juice
2 ounces vodka
1 to 2 dashes Tabasco® sauce
1 teaspoon lime juice
1 dash Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon horseradish
1/4 teaspoon lemon pepper
1/8 teaspoon Creole seasoning or salt
1/8 teaspoon black pepper
Mix juice and vodka. Add remaining ingredients. Stir well. Serve over ice. Garnish with a celery stem or carrot stick, if desired.
Makes 2.

9. The mere hello from my three beautiful children.

10. The quietness and stillness in a room or home that would somehow drive one crazy, especially when one is not use to it. This quietness and stillness in our lives means one thing, we are alive and we are surrounded by the many little simple pleasures in life that we take for granted on so many days and occasions.
