I KNOW I HAVE…

Have you ever had so much to say,
you wanted just to shout?
But you couldn’t find the words
to help you get it out.

Have you ever done a thing so wrong
it made you lose a friend?
And nothing you could do or say
could ever make it mend.

Have you ever felt so hurt
by what a friend has done?
And even when they say, “I’m sorry,”
you feel you haven’t won.

Have you ever had so little
you had nothing left to lose?
And have you ever loved so much
there was naught you would refuse?

Have you ever wished you were again a child
with laughter, joy, and glee?
The only tears you’d ever spill
were for the scratches on your knees.

Have you ever hurt so bad
you thought that you would die?
Have you ever pained so much
you couldn’t even cry?

Have you ever been so happy
you couldn’t sit still?
Have you ever been so sad
you’d die at your own will?

Have you ever faked a smile
just to make it through the day?
But on the inside, there’s an ache,
that’ll never go away.

Have you ever had a love within
that was truly very deep?
And no matter how you tried,
at nights you couldn’t sleep?

If you have ever felt this way
thought your heart would turn to stone?
Let your tears fall with mine,
because together we’re not alone.
